Announcement : INSPIRAL Workshop *** On Tuesday 21st August 2001, INSPIRAL (INveStigating Portals for Information Resources And Learning: http://inspiral.cdlr.strath.ac.uk/) will be holding a workshop looking at possibilities and strategies for the integration of virtual / managed learning environments and digital library services in the UK. INSPIRAL would like to invite interested parties within the HE / FE sector, including educators, librarians, information scientists, and learning technologists, with an interest in the integration of virtual / managed learning environments, and digital or hybrid libraries, to attend this event. This event will continue to focus on examining organisational and end-user (rather than technical) issues and experiences. It is therefore of particular relevance to those with an interest in teaching and learning, content and service provision, or institutional management. Through breakout sessions, open discussion, and presentations on relevant and related topics, this workshop aims to build on findings already discovered in the forums held in Glasgow and London. These findings will be examined in detail, with the main issues being prioritised, possible solutions identified and ways forward in integrating virtual / managed learning environments with digital libraries will be explored. This event is free, and lunch and refreshments will be provided. Future events will be held in Birmingham, Glasgow, and Leeds. Spaces are limited: please register for the Workshop by Thursday 16th August 2001, by contacting: Sharron Brown, INSPIRAL Research Assistant at: sharron.brown@strath.ac.uk, or by telephone on, 0141 548 4753 |
